Chard Town 4, East Budleigh 1

A midweek trip to league leaders Chard was the latest fixture on East Budleigh’s agenda, but despite taking the lead they were eventually beaten by a very good side, writes Mark Auton.

Budleigh’s fought well with their best player on the night Hugo Demetre opening the scoring in the first half, but the hosts managed to level by the break.

Both sides had their chances whilst Budleigh keeper Rob Dance produced some smart goalkeeping.

The home side took the lead after the interval and Budleigh never really got to grips with a surface that resembled an ice rink.

Chasing the game in the latter stages Budleigh conceded two further goals to give Chard a score line that slightly flattered them.

This Saturday Budleigh begin a double header against teams below them when they visit Culm, before a midweek evening kick-off on Wednesday at Colyton (6.30pm).

East Budleigh Reserves were again denied a game when the pitch at Langdon was waterlogged.

They still have 10 league games to go and will hope that nothing stands in their way when they visit Priory on Saturday.
