Archant

East Budleigh Reserves went down 4-1 at home to Topsham Town in a Fresha League Division Six game, writes Mark Auton.

A below par first half display from the Jays saw the visitors take control of this fixture and despite a better second half, Topsham were always comfortable.

The lively Jimmy Wangdi was denied early on, but it was the away side that scored first on 14 minutes.

With the next attack Budleigh won a free-kick and when the ball in from Simon Pearce reached Alex McKenna he levelled things up.

Topsham regained the advantage twelve minutes later and Budleigh keeper Adam Coles would have been disappointed to see a third go past him before half-time.

Budleigh improved in the second period but still found it hard to retain the ball; Coles did well to tip over at one end whilst Louis Jeans saw his shot parried at the other.

A fourth goal late on sealed Budleigh’s fate.

For Budleigh Wangdi worked hard as did Andy Case and Adam Jones.

This Saturday Budleigh visit Awliscombe.
