In what was ultimately a disappointing afternoon for East Budleigh Reserves, they struggled to get their game going and so slipped to a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of visiting Thorverton Reserves, writes Mark Auton.

In the seventh minute the away side took advantage as Budleigh failed to clear their lines and, but for keeper Drew Shorrock, the visitors would surely have added a second.

A series of Tom Christian corners looked Budleigh’s most likely way back, but the final touch was not forthcoming. Joe Walker had a shot deflected wide before Thorverton doubled their advantage 10 minutes before the break.

After the interval, Budleigh were better and Rory Waite, Gareth Morrey and Ben Wilks all tried their luck, but the away side defended well and deserved the win.

For Budleigh, Waite worked hard.
