The penultimate fixture of the season for East Budleigh Reserves saw them go down by the odd goal at Colyford Road, Seaton, last Saturday, writes Mark Auton.

A below par first half from Budleigh saw the hosts take a two goal cushion into the break and it could have been worse but for keeper Mark Bown who excelled with a two excellent stops.

The second half was a total turnaround as Budleigh controlled proceedings.

A shot-cum-cross from Adam Jones reduced the arrrears, but as hard as Budleigh tried the elusive equaliser would not come.

Both Steve Hitchcock and Alex Manning went close before Matt Thomas was denied, ‘somehow by the laws of physics’ as his shot hit the inside of the post, but failed to cross the line!

Budleigh complete their campaign at Railway Club this Saturday (3pm).
