East Budleigh Reserves bag big point thanks to Wyatt cracker

Honiton Town Reserves 2, East Budleigh Reserves 2

East Budleigh Reserves had to settle for a draw in their trip to Honiton despite producing a fine team performance, writes Mark Auton.

Budleigh started well with some slick passing; Tom Christian, Harry Trick and Ben Wilks were all involved in creating the opening goal for Ryan Britton who produced a textbook side foot finish.

The home side showed signs of why they are at the top end of the league, but Rich Wyatt, Adam Wheatley and Colin Jeans were defending well, but Honiton were gifted an equaliser before the break with Mark Bown unable to hold a cross.

The goal lifted the home side who used the slope well after the re-start, and with the help of a wrist on the way their centre forward gave them the lead

But Budleigh didn’t give in and with Britton, Trick and Ben Wyatt driving their side on it was the latter who hit a 25-yard bending shot past the host keeper to level things up again.

Budleigh could have won it late on; Joe Rosser and Wilks went close, but a draw was a fair outcome

Tom Hurley slotted in well on his debut for Budleigh who host Amory Green Rovers on Saturday (2.15pm).
