East Budleigh saw their 100 per cent record in Macron League Division Three ended with a 3-0 home defeat to a very good Lympstone side, but the score did flatter the visitors somewhat, writes Mark Auton.

Kyle Bassett, Sam Schlaefli and Mark Dunne found the net for the away side and Budleigh will be disappointed not to have scored themselves.

For varying reasons, Budleigh had to change their back three for the game and found themselves one down at the break.

The best move of the half for Budleigh saw Jacob Rice and Ben Wiltshire combine to set up Dan Atkinson whose header was tipped over.

Tom Chudley joined the action for Budleigh after the break and his pace was a threat to the Lympstone defence. With the game in the balance he fed another sub, Jack Parsons, who in turn set up George Harris whose toe poke was just wide.

At the other end, the Lympets took their chance with two goals in two minutes to seal Budleigh’s fate.

This Saturday (September 8), Budleigh are in cup action when they host Sampford Peverell in the Bill Slee Cup (2pm).
