Archant

With Injury, unavailability and suspension taking its toll an under strength East Budleigh took to the field against the Students from Exeter University and after a very creditable display went down to 76th and 81st minute goals, writes Mark Auton.

Budleigh defended for their lives and keeper Rob Dance was at his best on a number of occasions.

The visitors should have had a first half penalty rather than just a free-kick, whilst Dan Reynolds produced a couple of superbly timed tackles.

Four minutes into the second period Dance saved well tipping a shot around the post before Ben Wyatt saw the opposing keeper do the same from his shot following a Spencer West knock down.

Fourteen minutes from time Budleigh lost possession and were duly punished and when substitute Aaron Wakley saw his shot come back off the post a minute later it summed up Budleigh’s season.

A second came just after to seal the points, but every Budleigh player should be proud of the effort given.

This Saturday Budleigh visit Clyst Valley, whilst The Reserves entertain Railway Club with both matches kick-off at 3pm.
