Cullompton Rangers Reserves 2, East Budleigh 1

East Budleigh travelled to Cullompton last Saturday to face a team in the bottom three and ended up taking on a side including half of their first team, writes Mark Auton.

Despite this Budleigh played well and deserved at least a share of the spoils especially with a Mike White goal being wrongly disallowed.

Both sides had their opportunities in the first half, but it was the hosts who took a lead into the break.

A lack of concentration from Budleigh saw Cullompton increase their advantage after the re-start, but Budleigh would not lie down and it was Tim Whiteoak who reduced the arrears.

In the closing stages Budleigh peppered the home goal as Whiteoak, Dan Atkinson and Josh Sale all agonisingly went close to an equaliser, but it wasn’t to be their day.

This Saturday Budleigh take on Witheridge at Vicarage Road, before completing their home campaign on Bank Holiday Monday against Bickleigh and both games have 3pm starts.
