East Budleigh edged out at table toping Sidbury

Sidbury 2, East Budleigh 0

East Budleigh’s trip to Sidbury last Saturday was not a memorable one, beaten by a goal in each half, in a game in which they never hit the heights of the previous week, writes Mark Auton.

In the first half, Budleigh failed to keep the ball well enough and went behind to a

sloppy goal for the home side.

It was a bit better in the second half. Mike White, Dan Reynolds and Josh Whiller tried hard in the midfield but things were made more difficult when a long-range second made it 2-0.

Budleigh battled well in the final quarter but were unable to unlock the Sidbury rear guard.

For Budleigh, Steve Hitchcock was the stand-out player and they must now look to bounce back when they entertain Alphington at Vicarage Road on Saturday (kick-off at 2.15pm).
