East Budleigh edged out at Newton St Cyres

East Budleigh made the trip to the other side of Exeter to face Newton St Cyres last Saturday and went down by the odd goal in three despite having the better of the first period, writes Mark Auton.

Budleigh took the lead after 25 minutes when Rich Pratt set up Jack Howarth to fire his third goal of the season into the roof of the net.

Further chances came and went and it was the home side that levelled things up before the break.

After the re-start Budleigh seemed a little lack lustre and were caught on the counter around the hour mark and never really recovered.

Both Ben Wyatt and Matt Thomas stepped in and worked hard for the cause for a Budleigh side who visit Exmouth Amateurs on Saturday.

Budleigh will be looking to complete an early season double following their recent win at Vicarage Road.
