Exmouth based Dynamo Bank are celebrating Exeter Sunday League Cup success after a 5-3 win over Black Swan.
Bank made a slow start and found themselves behind in the fifth minute. They were level when a Nick Adair pass sent Cunningham away who and when he cut back inside in the area he was hauled down and he picked himself up to tuck the penalty away.
Hot favourites to lift the trophy Black Swan stormed back and it needed a number of superb saves from Bank gloves man Sy Savage to keep his side on level terms.
Just before the break Rob Chidgey rounded the keeper only to be dragged to the ground. The gloves man got a red card and Cunningham slammed home the spot kick to send Dynamo into the break 2-1 up and with a man advantage.
The second half belonged to a vibrant Dynamo Bank and both Stevie Newton and JJ Maher went close in the early exchanges.
Injury then saw an end to two-goal Cunningham’s game and he was replaced by Dan Atkinson who wasted no time in adding to his stock as a ‘super sub’ by firing Bank into a 3-1 lead.
A fine solo effort from Chris Wright then put Bank two in front, but a classy Black Swan stormed back to net twice to set up a nervy finish.
Under the cosh, Bank broke and Dean Hepburn set Wright away from the halfway line to slot his second of the game and seal a memorable victory for his side.
The team’s management and playing staff would like to say a big and resounding thank you to everyone that was at the final to cheer them on and also to The Bank Pub in Exmouth for their magnificent support this season.
