Budleigh Salterton Reserves made a winning end to their Macron League Division Three season with a 7-2 Greenway Lane success over Clyst Valley, writes SpursTom.

The three points should now mean that the Robins second team will once again line up in the fourth tier of Devon and Exeter League football next season.

The two goals that Aaron Denny netted means the cultured player, who started the season at Barnstaple Town and, after switching to Greenway Lane mid-season, has enjoyed a fine campaign as a regular in Kevin Hill’s Budleigh first team this season, ends the campaign as the second team’s leading scorer.

Elliott Mann also bagged a brace and the other goals for Budleigh came from Karl Riddell, Harry Gibbings and Adam Wilkinson.

One person delighted with the final day was team boss Alan Barnsley, who has done so well during what has, for him, been a frustrating season. At times it was a struggle getting a side together. Non-availability of players meant he had to forfeit an away league match, resulting in a point adjustment and a fine for the club as shown on the Division’s table, but hopefully, this victory, plus a little help from results elsewhere between now and the end of the campaign, will result in a final table placing clear of the bottom three.
