Brixington Blues Under-10s faced top of the table Twyford Spartans in the Exeter and District Youth League KO Cup semi-final at Washbrook Meadows Ottery St Mary, in a game played under floodlights, writes Alan Diprose.

After getting there by beating three of the top five sides from the Under-10 West Division, Blues had high hopes of another fine match and the chance to play at St James Park in the final.

The game kicked off at a very quick pace, and Spartans showed their intent with a couple of pacy attacks.

Blues Keeper Will Cooper did what he has done all season and repelled the attacks, with defenders Luke Buck and Matthew Edworthy mopping up.

Blues created their own chances, as Matthew Rye and Tom Humphry dug the ball out in midfield, whilst Sam Diprose attacked down the wing.

However, at the break Blues found themselves 2-0 down.

In the second half, Jake Diprose, Owen Shaw and Max Rickards were brought on, but the chances came and went and Blues succumbed to a heart-wrenching 2-0 reversal.

Good luck to Twyford in the final where they meet Stoke Hill in May.
