Exmouth Amateurs were excellent value for a 2-2 draw at home to high-flying Witheridge Reserves.

The contest was played throughout at a high tempo. Ammies opened the scoring with a 25th minute trademark free-kick from Si Withers, the ball arrowing into the net over the wall from 20-yards.

That was the only goal of the first half and Ammies could, perhaps should, have closed the game out early in the second half when they spurned a number of good chances. Some were down to poor finishing, but others were certainly down to then duality of the visiting gloves man!

With 20 minutes remaining Witheridge levelled with a shot from the edge of the area and five minutes later took a 2-1 lead after a mistake in the home back line!

Ammies came back well, clearly determined to continue their unbeaten Warrenview run that stretches back to October 11, when, with 10 minutes left, Matt Cousins applied a clinical finish from a Josh Hill corner. That concluded the scoring with both teams deserving to take something out of a compelling contest.
