Exmouth Town Under-13s suffered a 4-0 defeat in what was an entertaining Exeter and District Youth League meeting with Exmouth United.

It was United who took the lead, albeit against the run of play and they got the better of Town glovesman Mat Burke for the second time just before the break.

In the second half, Town, understandably, began to ‘chase the game’ which left gals that a well-organised United side exploited to increase their lead.

At the other end of the pitch Will Lucas was denied by the United goal keeper and, soon after, the glovesman palmed away a good effort from Adam Watts.

United completed the scoring with a late fourth, netting from a tight angle. A seasoned youth football watcher said: “The contest was good to watch and was a credit to both sets of players and their coaches. There’s little doubt that, watching the game unfold, football was the big winner.”

The Town Man of the Match award went to the richly deserving Nial Christensen.

Sunday’s action for the Town Under-18s also fell to the weather.
