Canning impresses as Lympstone are beaten at Hemyock

Hemyock 2, Lympstone 0

The Lympets came unstuck on a sticky Mid Devon surface in a game that saw the home side's long-ball tactics prove far more suitable for the conditions.

Neither side could break the deadlock in an evenly contested first half.

After the break the home side took a 60th minute lead which forced the Lympets to go in search of an equaliser and, as often happens in such cases, they were caught on the break for a killer second by the Mid Devon team.

Benny Canning picked up the Man of the Match award for an inspired shift as a stand-in goalkeeper.
