Budleigh Under-16s edged out in fine game at Feniton

Budleigh Under-16s were edged out by the odd goal in five in their Exeter and District Youth League meeting with Feniton at their Acland Park home, writes SpursTom.
Unfortunately, before the young Robins could get organised, the hosts swept forward from the kick-off to take the lead through Tyler Willis.
Feniton continued putting pressure on a defence which were shaken, but also showed a lack of communication.
One player who was having a solid game, though, was Benji Horn at right back. As Budleigh looked for a way back into the contest, much of their attacking play came from their right flank where Ryan Daffin proved a handful for the home defenders.
Parity was restored with Will White goal on 24 minutes and, clearly lifted by their equaliser, they scored again through Daffin take a 2-1 lead. The game flowed from end to end and the sides went in on level terms when Feniton player Giles Basson got in between two defenders to rifle the ball home.
After the break there was plenty of good football on show from both sides, but Feniton looked the more positive and their endeavours were rewarded when, on 50 minutes, they won the match with a goal befitting of a higher stage!
The goal was scored by Willis – the same player who had opened the scoring in the very first minute - who struck the sweetest of volleys to give his side all three points. The only surprising thing to come from the remainder of the match was that there were no further goals as the sides went at each other as raging bulls! However, winners Feniton were arguably that little bit more composed and so deserved to take all three points.
