Budleigh Salterton last Thursday began a busy seven days that would see them meet the top three clubs in Exeter and District League Under-15 Division Two, writes SpursTom.

First up was a home match against second in the table Honiton Town. This was a game that referee David Saunders described afterwards as: “a pleasure to have handled; two teams who went out intent on playing football.”

Having lost their previous match and hoping to retain second place at least, Honiton took an 18th minute lead through Scott Kelly, somewhat against the run of play.

The young Robins got back into the game on 37 minutes as Liam Liddell controlled and shot giving the keeper no chance.

The game was won with an Alec Larsson-Carter strike in the second period.

The whole Robin squad deserved to be congratulated for their display in achieving the double against such worthy opponents.

On Saturday (April 23) they travelled to Mid Devon to face champions-elect Crediton Saints where they put on a spirited display.

There were three goals in the game all of which came from set-pieces.

The home side took the lead in the first half before Ewan Anderson restored parity from the penalty spot.

The hosts won it with a free-kick just five minutes from time.

The youngsters were back in action last night (Wednesday) taking on an Okehampton Argyle side battling for the runners-up spot.
