Playing in Tiverton against a strong, aggressive and equally good Moors Youth side, the young Robins had to battle hard, as their defence was tested to the limit.

The hosts took a deserved 16th minute lead through Connie Pengelly and should have been further ahead by the interval.

Budleigh were more positive in the second period in which Joe Graham excelled, even though it looked like the home defence would not be breached.

Another attack resulted in Will White finding the back of the net 16 minutes from time to set up a nail-biting finish with both clubs searching for victory. However, neither side could find a second goal and so match honours were shared.

Budleigh are of course the newly crowned champions and, after this, their final outing, their season’s work in the league reads: played 14, won 11, drawn three and lost none with a goal difference of plus 44.

A sad postscript to the season, it’s a shame that both West Exe Youth and Wonford Galaxy had to pull out of the league during the campaign, which meant all results against them had to be expunged from the records.
