Budleigh Under-14s continue to rack up the goals

Having triumphed 7-0 the previous Saturday against the same opponents, any thought that Budleigh Salterton Under-14s may take it easy in their Exeter and District League meeting with Honiton were soon dispelled when they met five days later under the Greenway Lane floodlights, writes SpursTom.

Considering the pitch had been used for a two hour contest followed by penalties the night before the surface was in perfect playing condition and the young Robins provided a performance to match it.

Every member of the squad on the night took part in the action and did well when called upon. This may well be remembered as the Balbi and Mann show, not only for the goals they scored, but the interplay between them, as at times it seemed telepathic. It was these two who gave the hosts a 3-0 half-time cushion.

Almost from the commencement of the second period the visitors were put under pressure by a side showing no mercy, hell bent on improving the goals for column, whilst also defending well when required. Ten more times the young Robins found the back of the net, without conceding, in perhaps their best all round team performance of the season for a 13-0 victory against a decent side which were simply steamrollered. Balbi netted five and Mann four whilst the other Budleigh goals came from James Bridge (2), Joe Rockey and Jai Ferguson.
