Budleigh girls’ Under-12s defeated West Exe to land a coveted place in the final of the Devon Girls Under-12 Cup, writes SpursTom.

On a frosty Sunday morning, the young Robinettes welcomed the team currently standing two places above them in the league. The visitors seemed the more assured team at the beginning with the accuracy of their passing. Budleigh may have started slowly but were equal to the task as it remained scoreless at the break.

In the second half, kicking downhill, and led well by captain for the day, Tiegan Gibbins, who produced an inspiring, Player of the Match, performance, Budleigh surged forward. A pass from Millie Shaw offered Naomi Moyle the chance to open the scoring and the youngster did so with aplomb!

It proved to be the only goal of a mighty close encounter, and there was great joy at the sound of the final whistle. Their final opponents and indeed a venue are yet to be decided, but simply getting to the final is a terrific achievement for the girls in this, their first season as a team!

Squad (all played): Chloe Addey, Emma Churchyard, Tiegan Gibbins, Esme Kilburn-Thompson, Ella Maguire, Eleanor Messom, Naomi Moyle, Alice Parker, Martha Raffell, Kayleigh Roberts, Millie Shaw and Caitlin Smith.
