THE very efficient South West Peninsula League have once again been exceptionally quick on the draw and become one of the first leagues across the non-league football divide to release a full programme of fixtures for next season.

Full marks to Secretary Phil Hiscox for this tremendous feat – there are hours, and hours, involved in the compilation of fixtures.

Locally the top ranked side next season will be the areas only representatives I the Premier Division, the Royal Marines AFC.

The Militarymen begin their top flight campaign on Saturday, August 20 with an Endurance park meeting with Launceston.

In terms of other ‘key dates’ in the calendar, the Royal marines have a trip to Torpoint on Boxing Day, host Saltash united on the final day of the year and they end the campaign on Saturday, April 28, 2012 with an Endurance park meeting with Dartmouth.

Budleigh Salterton begin their bid to go one better than last years second placed finish in the Eastern Division on Saturday, August 20 with a visit to Teignmouth Town. They play their first Greenway lane league game seven days later when Ottery St Mary will become the first of three East Devon derby matches to be contested at Budleigh in the league campaign. On Boxing Day Greenway lane stages, arguably, the most anticipated home game of the season – the annual meeting with neighbours, and rivals, Exmouth Town. The final game of 2011 sees Budleigh travel into Exeter to meet Alphington on Saturday, December 31 and they complete their season with an April 21 Greenway lane meeting with Appledore.

Exmouth Town, now once again under the management of Jody Bolt, begin their quest for league glory with a Saturday, August 20, Southern Road meeting with Appledore. On Boxing Day, Town make the short trip to Greenway lane for the annual festive fixture. On the final day of the year Bolt and his men have a home game against Newton Abbot Spurs and they wrap up the season as early as April 6 with the return derby game against Budleigh.
