Budleigh Salterton 2, Ottery St Mary 3

On Saturday morning in brilliant sunshine Greenway Lane played host to an enthralling Exeter and District Youth League Under-16 KO Cup tie, writes SpursTom.

Both sides play in Division Two, with the Otters pitching up unbeaten to date this term.

The Robin’s manager felt that some fringe players needed a chance in the starting line-up and it was going well until two quick goals by Luke Phillips and Jamie Hill gave the visitors the advantage.

However, the hosts stuck to their task well and just before the break Liam Liddell fired them back into contention.

Try as they did neither side could find the target until the final six minutes of the contest!

First Max Goodesmith struck to level things up at 2-2. Then, with extra time looming, Ottery struck the winner when a ball into the area found Jacob Thomas who made no mistake.

After the final whistle, referee Mr Ray Leworthy praised both teams for a good game of football.
