Budleigh Salterton made a nap hand flying start to the season in front of their own followers at Greenway Lane.

The home side took a 12th minute lead with a goal that owed much to some good approach play from Callum Shipton. Shipton’s slick footwork took him past a defender before he crossed for Mark Lever to thump the ball home.

That proved to be the only goal of the first half, but the lead was doubled just three minutes into the second half when a mistake in the visitors defence allowed Jack Howarth to net from close range.

A Howarth cross was turned home by Jack Greenslade to make it 3-0 in the 54th minute and two minutes later Howarth scored his second. A rampant Robins netted a fifth, and a fourth in 11 second half minutes when the impressive Howarth crossed for substitute Mark Broom to fire home.
