Budleigh Salterton lifted the Axminster Hospital Cup after a penalty shoot-out which followed an enthralling two hours of football with Seaton Town, writes Alan Beer.

The Robins almost took an early lead through Josh Sale who watched his looping shot clip off the crossbar to safety.

Then Mike Hancock had a goal ruled out. On the half hour mark Seaton took the lead, slightly against the run of play.

It was not until ten minutes from time that the Robins were level when a cross from Tony Pallett was headed on by Mark Lever to Danny Williams who fired in from close range.

Seaton thought they had won the game on 90 minutes when a clearance was not cleared and it was promptly thumped beyond Pullin in the Robins goal.

In the ten minutes of added time that was then played, a cross from the left wing by Josh Sale was headed home by Mike Hancock to take the final into extra-time.

Neither side could find a third goal in the added half hour, and so the contest went to a penalty shoot-out.

Wright, Carr and player-boss Williams all netted for the Robins whilst keeper Ade Pullin made a superb save to keep out the last Seaton effort to start the Budleigh celebrations.

Robins team: Pullin, Wilson, Nield, A Pannell, Hancock, Sale, Lever, Wright, Turner, Pallett, Greenslade. Subs, Carr, G Pannell, Williams (all played), Bird, Pidgeon, Hockhold.
