Morley Rangers 0, Budleigh Salterton 1

The Budleigh Salterton ladies’ have given themselves a very strong chance of landing the Westward Developments Devon League Division One championship with this away victory in their penultimate fixture of the season, writes SpursTom.

With Celine White out injured, the Robinettes welcomed back Lucy Richardson from her winter travels, and it was she who scored the solitary goal in a first half of domination by the title chasers. The other star of that period was the home keeper pulling off a number of saves as her defence were opened up continually, whilst her counterpart was having a relative easy time.

The second period was a much closer affair especially in a heavily crowded midfield; though Richardson found the back of the net once again she was to be denied by the assistant referee’s raised flag.

With only a goal between the sides, Morley knew they had a chance and came close several times, but the Robinettes still had the greater percentage of possession.

There was a scare following a collision between Budleigh’s keeper and an attacker, thankfully both were able to continue after treatment.

There were joyous faces from the ladies of East Devon at the final whistle for gaining three precious points.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again on Sunday, April 27, at Budleigh’s Greenway Lane home.
