Budleigh Salterton hosting local ‘Match of the Day’

The big local sporting events on the penultimate Saturday of October are, in football, the South West Peninsula League, Eastern Division local derby at Greenway Lane, Budleigh Salterton, where the Robins’ take on Honiton Town (3pm, and, in rugby, it’s Raleigh Park, Withycombe, with Withy hosting Bude in a Tribute Cornwall and Devon League meeting (3pm).

Withy head into the derby meeting with Honiton off the back of a midweek win, 3-1 over Liverton United. Visitors Honiton Town also had a fine result in midweek as they came from behind twice to draw 2-2 at Bovey Tracey.

Withy are looking to end a run of three successive defeats with their last home game being a 92-0 defeat to Honiton.

In local Macron League football, East Budleigh entertain Newton St Cyres in a Division Three game (3pm).

In Division Seven Otterton Reserves entertain Thorverton Reserves and there are two local games in Division Eight with Exmouth Town thirds at home to Sandford Reserves and Topsham Town Reserves entertained Millwey Rise Reserves.
