Budleigh Salterton Reserves went down 8-0 at Heavitree United in their final Fresha League top flight game before Christmas, writes SpursTom.
It is tough facing such a physically strong and intimidating outfit at any-time, but to do so with an under-strength side and being two down within seven minutes of the start makes it all the harder!
All due respect to the division strugglers, though they were bombarded they stood firm until the final minutes of the half before conceding again.
The visiting Robins only available substitute was introduced at the commencement of the second period, surprisingly it was they who made a determined start forcing several corners in succession before it all went horribly wrong in the 61st minute. Firstly defender Alex Paltridge went down injured, who after treatment was led off concussed and with a bloody mouth, and almost immediately the hosts added a fourth increasing it to 7-0 by the 68th minute against the 10 men. It eventually finished 8-0 to the Exeter club. For Budleigh Zack Pearce edged out co-defender Paltridge as the Man of the Match.
