Budleigh Salterton Reserves 0, Topsham Town 3

Another frustrating Saturday afternoon for Budleigh Salterton Reserves manager, Duane Greenslade, in his attempt to preserve the club's place in the Fresha League top flight, writes SpursTom.

It is becoming an impossible task, which is not helped that only 13 members of the squad were available, including three recognised goalkeepers!

Alex Richardson was the one chosen to be between the sticks as the Robins entertained Topsham Town.

The visitors, kicking downhill, dominated the first half with the only surprise being that it took them until the 34th minute before scoring with Rian Antat breaking the deadlock.

The lead was doubled three minutes before the break through Ashley McDermid.

Budleigh’s only bright spot was a brilliant two-handed save by Richardson almost on the stroke of half time.

The second period was much better contested with both glovesmen coming more into play.

On 56 minutes Jordan Hockold replaced Brett Gloyn (blistered feet) in the Robins midfield. Then, on the hour, more misfortune for the Robins as a poor back-pass was seized upon by the Tops and McDermid made it 3-0.

A magnificent Richardson save denied the visitors a fourth.

With about 15 minutes remaining, substitute Sam Richards was introduced, and though he battled away relentlessly, it was all in vain as he and his colleagues suffered another defeat bringing them even closer to Division One football.
