The Sportslighting Devon Under-13 Girls’ Cup Final was contested at the Devon County FA Headquarters, Newton Abbot ground, between Budleigh Salterton Youth, from the Devon Girls’ League Division One, and Ivybridge Town Youth, from the Devon Junior and Minor League Girls’ Vivid Division, writes SpursTom.

It was visible from the offset the favourites, Ivybridge, were the more confident, whilst the Budleigh youngsters seemed nervous by the whole occasion, watched by a large and noisy crowd.

It is fair to say that Ivybridge were the clear favourites. They kept the young Robinettes pinned in their own half and opened up a 3-0 advantage by the close of the first period.

To their credit, Budleigh came out of their shells after the interval and were now playing competitively, building more attacks, which made for a better spectacle. Ivybridge had the skill and pace to get them a further two goals without conceding to triumph 5-0 and become worthy cup holders.

Budleigh, for their part, never gave up and were a credit to themselves and the club.

Budleigh Salterton Squad: Millie Hardman, Lilly Barnsley, Lucy Spiller, Coco Goodbody-Stannard, Faith Holder, Yasmin Levi, Bethany Browring, Amy Leadbeater, Georgia Curtis, Hattie Real, Fleur Larsson-Carter, Iona Gray, Poppy Avery, Tilly Avery and Kirsty Robinson.
