Brixington Blues Under-14s played their final match of the year and ended 2014 in grand style as they beat Beacon Knights 6-1.

Blues were quickly into their stride taking a second minute lead through striker Guy Laverock. Fellow front runner Kian Newton doubled the lead, but complacency crept in and this was seized upon by Knights who pulled a goal back. The goal stung Blues into a response and they went into half-time with a two-goal advantage when Laverock scored his second.

Blues began the second half at high tempo and their slick play quickly led to goal number four with Laverock completing his hat-trick. A fifth goal arrived courtesy of an own goal before a trade-mark Hayden Saxton mazy run ended with an accomplished finish to complete a very satisfactory outing for the team.

Blues coach Paul Jennions said: “That’s half the league season completed for us, After many close matches a resounding win demonstrated that hard work and effort can be fully rewarded with three well earned points. There were many outstanding performances on the day, but defender Lewis Smith let little past him and midfielder ‘s Kyle Webb and Simeon Boyd worked hard throughout.”
