Brixington Blues Under-13s were 4-1 winners when they met CS Cougars in an Exeter and District Youth League match

There was a good feel to the early exchanges with Blues midfield trio of skipper Jake Haggerty, Joel Knott and Ben Geare giving as good as they got in the middle third of the pitch.

Cougars carried a threat, but the defending from Finn Glanfield, Harrison Fox and Haydon Simpson kept them at arms length.

Blues were a whisker away from opening the scoring when, after some neat link-up play between Ethan Beverley and Jack Drew-Cull provided a shooting chance for Knott, but his shot beat the goalkeeper only to come back off the frame of the goal!

However, soon after Blues did get the ball in the net with a superb finish from close range by Drew-Cull following a well delivered Haggerty corner. The lead did not last long as a terrific finish from Cougars restored parity.

Blues regained the lead with a move started by Elliott Bowyer that ended with Jayden Marles displaying a superb first touch before applying a clinical finish.

The lead was extended when Joe Gosling took a Marles pass in his stride before rounding the keeper and rolling the ball home.

The final goal was a terrific team effort with Haggerty and Geare starting things up with a good inter-change before Beverley looked up and delivered the sweetest of crosses that Nott headed home to complete the scoring.
