Brixington Blues Under-12s hosted Division 3 City Raiders Galaxy in an Exeter and District Youth League Cup tie, writes Alan Diprose.

Luke Buck gave Blues a second minute lead and this was the spark that led to a first half of near total Blues dominance!

Top marksman Will White helped himself to four goals, but the best of the six first half goals was a stunning right foot shot from outside the area by Tom Humphry that arrowed its way into the top corner.

Jake Diprose, producing his best performance of the season, was unlucky not to add further goals.

Leading 6-0 at the break Blues, with a tremendous show of sportsmanship, changed their players round to operate in different positions and it had the desire defect of stopping the flow of goals. It also offered opportunities to the visitors and they hit back with three goals.

However, the outcome was never in doubt and Owen Shaw capped a fine display with a powerful header to score the game’s tenth and final goal.

Captain for the day, Finnley Doyle-Stott, was rewarded for his energetic display with the winners’ Man Of The Match award.

Blues return to league action this Saturday with a visit to Dawlish.
