Brixington Blues Under-12s welcomed Westexe to their newly moved pitch at Withycombe Common writes Alan Diprose.

On a great playing surface Blues had the perfect start when captain Sam Diprose bundled home the ball after just 90 seconds.

Matthew Rye and Isaac Davies took the game to Westexe as Blues looked to continue their winning start.

Matthew Edworthy donned the keepers gloves for this match and showed tremendous kicking and distribution.

In the 19th minute though he made a vital save, but an unmarked Liam Burrnett was on hand to equalise.

The half finished all square and Blues made some half-time changes.

Two minutes into the second half Alex Bond lobbed the ball over Matt Edworthy for a fortuitous second for the visitors.

Blues came right back and were so close to an equaliser when Sam squared the ball to brother Jake Diprose, but his goal bound shot was deflected wide. Isaac Davies then forced a good save from the Westexe keeper with a powerfully hit free kick.

With defensive rock Luke Buck off injured, Westexe scored a great third.

There was no time to catch breath as Will White (who had worked tremendously hard all game) burst through and coolly slotted the ball home.

At 3-2, Blues sensed a comeback, but as they pushed forward, Sky Blues Liam Burnett scored his second of the game to win it 4-2 to the visitors.

The game was another great advert for junior football.
