Priory 4, East Budleigh Reserves 2

Despite a brace of goals from Ryan Britton this was a poor day at the office for East Budleigh Reserves who started the game brightly, writes Mark Auton.

A fifth minute free-kick from Dan Atkinson was drilled hard and low and after deflecting off the wall the Priory keeper parried only for Britton to fire home.

It seemed as though Budleigh had started too well and a lack of concentration saw the home side grab two quick goals to lead at half-time.

Budleigh came out committed for the second half with Ben Wyatt, Greg Konopka and Rory Waite all getting stuck in, but the team did not reach the heights of previous performances.

A third goal for the home side made it more difficult, but Britton gave Budleigh a glimmer of hope by reducing the arrears when his rocket shot found the far corner of the net after good build up play from sub Alex Manning and Atkinson.

Budleigh’s joy was short lived as the better passing side on the day rounded off the win with a fourth goal.

For Budleigh Rich Wyatt was Man of the Match with Adam Wheatly and Rory Waite contributing well.

Their next fixture is at Vicarage Road on Saturday against North Tawton, before a midweek game against Dawlish Utd (7pm).
