Brixington Blues Under-13s were 6-0 winners if their Exeter and District Youth League meeting with Millwey Rise.
Such was the impressive all-round performance from Blues that the Man of the Match award was shared between three players, Jake Haggerty, Joel Knott and Ben Geare.
Both teams made bright starts and in the early exchanges Ethan Beverley saw his shot well saved by the Rise glovesman.
Jake Haggerty and Ben Geare worked well together and it was that combination which led tom the ball being passed to Jack Drew-Cull who beat a defender before seeing his effort turned away by the goalkeeper.
The opposition hit back, but the Blues back line of Fin Glanfield, Harrison Fox and Haydon Simpson provided a solid defensive unit in front of confident Blues’ goalkeeper Russ Bracey.
The opening goal came in the 25th minute with Haggerty winning the ball before sending Nott away and he played a delightful ball into Beverley, who drilled it home.
Geare doubled the lead before a clever dribble from Jayden Marles ended with his cross being headed powerfully home by Thomas Rowsell. Millwey Rise were then denied by a stunning Bracey save. Play switched to the other end and Elliott Bowyer made it 4-0 to Blues. Four soon became five with a slick passing move ending with Zac Brown rifling the ball home.
The sixth and final goal came after another terrific passage of passing with Beverley applying a polished finish with a long-range strike.
Blues boss Dave Haggerty and his number two Chris Drew-Cull were delighted with their team’s play.
