Brixington Blues Under-10s made a flying start to their new season with a 5-1 win over Honiton.

The team, under the guidance of coaches Dave Haggerty and Wayne Rowsell took their pre-season hard work and some emphatic friendly match victories into the first game which saw them produce a slick all-round performance.

Zac Brown had the honour of netting the season’s first Exeter and District Youth League goal for the team, but parity was swiftly restored after a defensive mix-up! Blues were soon back onto the front foot and they took a 2-1 lead into half-time courtesy of an Alex Bowyer goal.

After the break Blues dominated both possession and territory as they passed the ball well. Bowyer netted his second before goals from Carrick Howard and Jake Howarth put a polished seal on the team’s efforts.

Blues goalkeeper Oliver Kelly led the team in the game and he looked assured between the posts in what was an impressive all-round team performance.
