Kian Newton was the hat-trick hero in another really good all-round show from the Brixington Blues under-10 side as they made cup progress at the expense of Ottery cannons.

BRIXINGTON Blues under-10s made safe progress into the last sixteen of the Exeter and District Youth League KO Cup with a fine win over Ottery Cannons.

In a lightning quick start to the game, Blues were ahead inside a minute when a corner from Kyle Webb was knocked home by Kian Newton.

Another superb delivery from a Webb corner was touched past his own keeper by an unfortunate Ottery defender and Newton bagged his second to send Blues into the break three goals to the good.

In the second half Blues continued to dominate. Webb set up Adam Jenions to rifle in the fourth and a rapid-fire double from Adam Wilkinson put Blues six up.

Jack May then bagged a brace – his second coming from the penalty spot – before a superb final goal was notched by Newton to complete his hat-trick, his treble goal arriving after a superb cross from Wilkinson.

As with any 9-0 success the headlines are grabbed by the goal scorers however this was a fine all-round effort from the Blues.

Ashley Parsons was inspirational in the midfield alongside Kyle Webb whilst Sam Cox and Kyle Barnsley kept things tight at the back.

Coaches Paul Jenions and Gary Ebdon were delighted. Jenions said: “This was the best result the boys have had in three years of playing together and was fully deserved. It was a very good display with everybody playing a part in the proceedings.”
