EXMOUTH Amateurs Girls sealed the Devon County Girls Under-11 League Cup with a 2-1 victory over Plainmoor Girls.
EXMOUTH Amateurs Girls sealed the Devon County Girls Under-11 League Cup with a 2-1 victory over Plainmoor Girls.The Ammies dished up a Sunday best and dominated the first half to such a degree that the only surprise was that they only led by a Jade Bamsey goal at the break.Throughout the half, Ammies looked to be positive and attacked at every opportunity. Meredith Deighton and Billie Denny were prominent in all the enterprising Ammies play.Such was the Ammies dominance that keeper Megan Clook was rarely troubled as the back line of Caitlin Fawcett, Faye Bland and sweeper Caitlin Eveleigh snuffed out any Plainmoor attacks.The second half saw a complete change as Plainmoor sprang out of the traps and were level within three minutes of the re-start. They might even have taken the lead but for a couple of excellent saves from Clook.As the half wore on, Ammies battled their way back to regain the dominance they had enjoyed before the break and, with Kirra Spillings adding extra strength at the back, the attacks gathered pace.With ten minutes remaining, Ammies forced a flurry of corners and, from one of them, Bamsey pounced to score from closeShortly afterwards Bamsey was withdrawn and received a richly-deserved standing ovation. Katie Davey went on in her place to further boost the defensive options.Ammies controlled the contest through to the final whistle which was received by great jubilation from players and supporters alike.
