ALL THREE of our Peninsula League sides have been drawn away in next seasons Throgmorton Cup.Budleigh go to new boys Bickleigh, Exmouth Town make the short trip into Exeter to meet University and Royal Marines AFC make a similar short trip as they go to Premier Division Clyst Rovers. The First Round ties of what is the Peninsula League, League Cup, are to be played on September 26.The Budleigh trip to Mid Devon is the most intriguing as Bickleigh will be playing for the first time at this level next term having finished as runners-up to Devon & Exeter League Premier Division Champions St Martins. The Draw has also been made for the 2nd Round of the competition and that will see Exmouth Town again on the road, this time, if they succeed against the Students, they will visit the winners of the Ottery St Mary and Appledore tie.The Marines, should they see off Clyst Rovers, will then have home advantage for a tricky tie against either of Witheridge, managed these days by former Glasgow Rangers full back Chris Vinnicombe, or Exeter Civil Service who of course, won the Eastern Division in the season just ended.Should Budlleigh defeat Bickleigh then their task in Round 2 will be to overcome Premier Division Buckland at their splendid Homers Heath headquarters. The 2nd Roud ties are set to be played on October 24th.
