Exmouth Amateurs 1, Activate 2

Ammies Ladies' suffered another frustrating afternoon as they slipped a narrow defeat in a game that they had done enough to probably take, at the very least, a point from.

Both teams started in positive fashion Activate firing in a couple of shots and Ammies forcing a couple of corners.

Activate took a firm grip on the game with two goals in as many minutes, a good move down their left found space in Ammies box and a shot dipped over keeper Rose into the far corner. Activate doubled the lead with a stunning finish, but only after another piece of misfortune for Ammies! An Activate move broke down just inside the box, but as the ball was cleared it struck the back of an Ammies player and fell invitingly to the striker who made no mistake!

Ammies responded well. The dangerous Worsley fired straight at the keeper when through and then a fine Worsley cross just eluded everyone in a crowded box before O’loughlin fired over from a corner.

Ammies who had nullified the Activate attacking threat went about trying to get back into the game forcing the away side to drop deeper and deeper.

They forced a series of corners, but couldn’t apply the finishing touch. Worsley did eventually pull a goal back volleying in from close range after a great cross from Beck.

Ammies threw everything at their opponents;, but Beck hitting the post late on was the nearest they got to an equaliser.

Credit to the visitors for defending their lead with many last ditch tackles and blocks as Ammies strived for a break that just wouldn’t come their way.
