EXMOUTH Amateurs' miserable conclusion to the season continued with a single goal defeat at Hatherleigh and, with just one match to play, the Ammies are not looking at a 3rd place finish and with that seems to be the end of their hopes of playing at a higher level next season. At the turn of the year the Ammies were looking racing certainties for a top two finish and that would most certainly have provided a passport to the South West Peninsula League. They were still looking very good in mid-March when successive wins over Beer Albion and Otterton suggested that they were back on track but, after a 3-0 Warren View victory over rivals Bickleigh, they then suffered back to back draws at Newtown and against Otterton and last Saturday's single goal defeat in North Devon was their fourth successive reversal.
