WITH three-quarters of the season completed, and only six weeks remaining, Exonia top the Symes Robinson & Lee-sponsored Budleigh Indoor League with the Madeira Red team a close second and the Budleigh Falcons in third place, writes Paul Griffin.

During the week Exonia regained top spot with a closely fought maximum points victory over the Budleigh Falcons.

The Exonia triple of K Hooper, B Bickerstaff and skip B Roberts won a very tight game 16-15 by gaining a single shot on the last end.

The other Exonia triple, skipped by J Hooper with R Steer-Kemp and I Benningham, after being pegged back to 11-11 after thirteen ends, finished strongly to win their rink 19-12 and give Exonia a 35-27 overall victory.

In the other match played this week Madeira Red held off the challenge by the Budleigh Falcons to replace them in second place in the table.

Reds claimed a comfortable 40-33 victory with the rinks being shared one each.

The Reds' triple of J Bates, S Grainger and skip D MaCauley, after being level at 12-12 after twelve ends, put in a strong finish to win 25-15.

The Falcons' triple of Don Huish, Harry Vanstone and skip Terry Kelly gained three shots on the last two ends to win their rink 18-15.
