THE PICK of the action in last week's Symes Robinson and Lee sponsored Budleigh Evening League was the match between Exonia and Madeira Blues, writes Paul Griffin.
The Blues started strongly and by the halfway stage were leading on both rinks.
Their dominance overall saw them into a 21-14 lead.
Exonia, who unusually have already lost two matches this season, then found their form to mount a sustained fight-back.
The commanding nature of their play over the second half of the match saw them claim 27 shots over the nine ends whilst restricting the Blues to just the five shots and therefore take the match 41-26.
The triple of B Roberts, M Helman and F English were in all sorts of bother, trailing 9-1, but staged a remarkable come back to claim an 18-12 win.
Meanwhile, the triple of J Young, G Hutchings and I Bellingham, also staged a fine comeback, they trailed 12-8 before winning 23-14.
In the other matches Madeira Red took maximum points by beating the Budleigh Falcons on both rinks.
Red led from start to finish to claim a comprehensive 42-20 victory.
Budleigh Hawks were winners on one rink with the other shared in their meeting with Buzzards, Hawks taking the game 40-31.
The star performers in the Reds team were M. Bowman's triple of J. Bate and A. Porter who led all the way as their rink ended resounding 24-8 winners.
In the Hawks team the triple of Wally Nickels, Jim Letten and David Evans also led from the start to win 24-15.
