It has been a sad start to the month for Exmouth Town following the news that former manager Dudley Westlake has passed away.
Dudley played an instrumental role in helping to rebuild the club in the 1980s in partnership with chairman Ray Clements and his assistant Bob Davis.
It was during this period that Town won promotion to the Premier Division of Western League football in 1981-82 and just a couple of years later, Exmouth won the title.
The club also won the League Cup, the Devon St Lukes Bowl on three occasions, Devon Cups and, incredibly, reached the semi-final of the FA Vase in 1985, losing to Fleetwood Town, who now reside in the EFL.
A football man to the core, Dudley was much loved at Exmouth Town and all of us in the community send our love and condolences to his family and friends.
