Exmouth swim into second spot behind hosts Sidmouth in Bradnam Trophy event

Exmouth Swimming Club members took part an event at Sidmouth on the first Saturday of December.

Sidmouth Pool hosted the annual Christmas Cracker competition, which is organised by East Devon Swim Squad and has Exmouth, Honiton and Sidmouth Swimming Clubs competing against each other.

In recent years a cup has been donated for the event by the Bradnam family in memory of Peter Bradnam, a coach for East Devon Swim Squad and Sidmouth who passed away untimely.

For many swimmers this was their first competition and there were some impressive performances, which bodes well for the future of swimming in East Devon.

This trophy is always hotly contested and this year Sidmouth managed to retain it.

The final results were Sidmouth 789, Exmouth 580 and Honiton 189 points.

Exmouth’s Ian Lang said: “We really would, like to say a very big thank you to Marcus Allen and all the pool staff for enabling so many parents to come in and watch, which created a brilliant atmosphere, and for the LED to supply some cracking prizes for the Raffle.

The many parent helpers made the evening run smoothly. We couldn’t do any of this without you!”
