Exmouth’s Maer Ground stages the Francis Clark Devon Cricket League Match of the Day on Saturday (July 13).
Exmouth meet Sidmouth for the second time in six days after they faced each other in last Sunday’s Exeter and East Devon section final of the Devon County T20 competition at Knightshayes, Tiverton.
Exmouth were edged out in that one, despite the batting heroics of all-rounder Gary Chappell and Sidmouth also claimed the honours when the pair met at Fortfield on the second Saturday of the league season.
Sidmouth will pitch up at the Maer with two spinners in their eleven. Sidmouth skipper Will Murray says: “I expect the pitch to be slow and of course very dry so it will no doubt take spin and we will have two in our ranks with Dom Bess called up in place of seamer Harrison Jones.”
He continued: “I have the upmost respect for Exmouth. They are a quality side with seven current county players and a couple more that would no doubt be part of the Devon set-up if time and availability permitted. We are expecting the usual tough competitive game, but we are going there to win.”
