Exmouth sailor Sam Matson and co-skipper Robin Elsey were present at the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) annual dinner and prize giving at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.

The presentations were made by five times Olympian Sir Ben Ainslie who was recently in action with Team Oracle in the Americas Cup.

Racing two-handed aboard their Figaro II yacht in the RORC’s Offshore series, the pair collected their Morgan Cup, Cervantes Trophy, Channel Race and Fastnet Figaro medals and later collected an award for third place overall in the double-handed series.

After the glamour of the weekend, Matson is now back in Cowes training hard with the Artemis Offshore Academy as he sails and races his Figaro single-handed.

He is aiming to earn a place in the team for further training in France in the New Year and hopes to compete in the prestigious single-handed Figaro Solitaire race circuit next year.
