Exmouth Rowers reign at Wimbleball regatta

PUBLISHED: 10:30 08 June 2011

Exmouth Rowing Clubs fine boat crews took to the water for their first regatta of the summer season at Wimbleball Lake on the first Saturday of June.

With blustery conditions prevailing, the course was changed and indeed shortened to one of 500m.

Despite the change of course the conditions remained a challenge, even for the most experienced of crews!

The Ladies Novice Double of Olivia Barnard and Kim Tapper took the clubs first win of the day.

Not to be out done by the girls, Chris Long and Charlie Angell in the Men’s Novice Double raced to a dead heat with a Dart-Totnes crew.

After the Umpires offered the option to both crews to re-row to determine first and second, it was Exmouth pair who then powered their way through to a convincing one length win.

The club also took second place in the Mixed Novice four of Ed Pearce, Jack Davey, Sophie Medlock, Sophie Douglas, the J18 Mens Double of Ed Pearce and Jack Davey and Kim Tapper took second place also in the

Ladies Novice sculls.
