Exmouth Rovers came out on top after a terrific clash against East Budleigh in Division 1 East of the Devon and Exeter League.
With injuries to key players, a reshuffled Budleigh were punished for their mistakes in the first half-hour as the hosts took a two-goal lead, thanks to James Clarke and Jacob Tinsley.
Budleigh had actually begun brightly with Jacob Rice working hard alongside the ever-willing Jack Hocking, and Liam West and Jack Greenslade tenacious in the midfield.
Hocking managed a deserved goal before the interval, Will Price with the assist as Hocking looped a header into the net from a free-kick to give Budleigh hope.
Rovers regained their two-goal buffer with a strike from Simon Withers and held out for maximum points, despite Alex Manning’s set-piece delivery always being a threat for the visitors.
Rovers travel to Clyst Valley and Budleigh visit Teignmouth.
